After a prolonged stay in Udaipur we were finally ready to move on to another Rajasthani city on the tourist trail, Jodhpur.
We arrived in the evening but luckily still in time to be greeted by the imposing Mehrangarh Fort, impressively lit up as it rose above the city.

The following morning we headed uphill through the old Blue City, towards the fort and Jaswant Thada.

Opting for the cheaper entry fee we chose to wander around the fort and visit the impressive marble cenotaph and gardens instead.

In the afternoon we returned to the busy city; we got lost in the streets, and eventually stumbled upon a bustling bazaar as the sun came down.

As the sun disappeared we found a rooftop restaurant above the melee at the Clock Tower and had a cold beer waiting for the Fort lights to be switched on, before heading back for dinner and bed.

The following morning we woke for sunrise (kind of!) and wandered the Blue City again to make the most of the beautiful early sunlight.

It wasn’t long before it was time to get back on a bus for the relatively short (five hour) journey to the desert city of Jaisalmer.
